I got dad a magic bullet blender chopper thingy as one of his xmas gifts...so today I made him a banana-strawberry-yogurt smoothie and I made some hummus and tried out the low fat asparagus soup where you use non fat yogurt/garlic/asparagus/chicken broth....it was pretty good but next time I need to make it thicker and add a few more spices. the hummus was a bit too bland so I picked up some tahini at the local organic store and will add that and maybe some clamata olives...or something!

So the sun was out and we were cosy in our yaks! We paddled by four gators...one was quite huge and the others were adolescent size. this guy was having a great day lying on a tree branch!

Gee, this having 4 days off is so great!
Its only Friday night and I feel like I have to go in tomorrow---but I don't!

Today after a bit of Black Friday shopping with a couple of friends-I took dad to Myakka park where we did photos for our Xmas card. Dad did well walking to the dam where we saw some good sized gators...the weather was a nippy 65 (brrr) for FLA! but clear and wintery–nice change of pace for these parts. (The photo of us below is one of our rejects-that is the upper Myakka Lake)

I put up the little xmas tree yesterday and dad did the other decorations in the house. Lucille and I hadn't seen each other since April so we took pictures of each other. We launched at 10:12 and travelled 4.5 miles in 3 hours. I borrowed Gene's cameras battery as I had left mine in the charger and he has the same camera as me. It was a wonderful overcast day which makes for great photo opportunities. Oscar Scherer - South Creek- is a lovely area and as we padlled upstream we smelled the campfires for the campers along the river. We saw many other kayakers-even an inflatable, as well as canoers with dogs in their canoes. I got a couple of good dog photos from the bridge at the nature center where we stopped for a stroll after we returned from passing the dam and managing to go a little further upstream. Gene and Lucille played some checkers at the Nature center and Gene enjoyed saying KING ME! many times. On the paddle back Gene And Lucille stopped for lunch but I headed back as I am on my special diet and was feeling a little weak. It was a little tricky finding the launch without my GPS or Gene as there are a lot of possible spots to enter to get back to Shoreland Park. I did take a wrong turn once but a guy trimming his palm tree told me I was just a little bit north of the launch. Fun day! Saw some birds but thats about it---although saw a small gator sunning here at home by a pond and a beautiful red tailed hawk that was on a telephone pole.

Took dad to the Dr that did his gall bladder surgery---he analyzed the MRI from then and said he needs to go have a MRCT to determine if the tumor in his pancreas is benign or not. Also I guess a blood test helps show if there is any cancer. The tumor is evidentally relatively small---at least a month ago when the MRI was done for his bleeding ulcer. Hopefully it is benign ---I believe they do surgery to remove these regardless...

Dad and I watched Julie and Julia tonite and he enjoyed it...I am now watching the new "prisoner" series which is taking a while to get into.
